The officer who bought the car seat on 10/23/14 is Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Ben Hall. This story is likely being circulated as a PR move to aid in burying a story about Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Troy Estree who was charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct (Minor under 16 and a family member) 08/14/14.

Or how about NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo, whose picture went viral after he was caught giving a homeless man a pair of boots in NYC in 2012 (unsurprisingly at the advent of the Stop-and-Frisk debacle)

Except the man wasn’t homeless. And this was shown to be a publicity stunt.
